What is a perfect week menu for the kindergarten?

Post by turi on Sun Aug 01, 2010 8:36 am

Many believe that it is too poor diet in kindergarten.

What do you think can be a perfect week's menu, given that children receive 3 meals per day. And how much had you been willing to pay for this menu?

Where I work, we hear parents who believe that we have too often cakes, not rough enough bread, would like to have more meals with hot food. But it's not very many suggestions on what we can do with the budget we have.

Now I want inspiration! And also feel free to fire / oven-in-lavvo food!

I would have been extremely satisfied if the kindergarten had done any of this:

Bread-served meals with proper bread, not quasi grossly buy bread. And served the same with pure meat and fish products, and lots of vegetables
-Generally, more vegetables, fruits and berries
Focus on the joy of food and being creative in your food, without compromising the healthy. Copy spear fruit, vegetables and dip, smoothies etc, what do I know ..
-Hot meals every day. The kids would be in the making. MORE FISH! Salmon in the oven, etc. Pure meat products. A lot of vegetables. Lentils and beans. Made small tapas dish, perhaps with different healthy snacks.
-Maybe a chef in kindergarten? It's an ideal world, we're talking about, right? One or more people who can spend time on this. Healthy food in an appealing way. Teach kids to love good and healthy food.

Hm, that was what I could get on the go.

But what is the reason that many kindergartens have a hot meal consisting of one of the following dishes:

Fish-bowls in white sauce
-Spaghetti with meat sauce
Sausages
-Rice porridge
Pizza
-Tomato soup

Why does not anything different? I bet that some children eat food like that at home too. Why not use more pure ingredients (you do not so much!) And let the children become familiar with new flavors?

Health Directorate says about kindergarten meals:
- The food should be varied over time and provide a variety of tastes

Meals should be set-up of food from the following three groups:
Group 1: Coarse bread, coarse cereals, potatoes, rice, pasta, etc.
Group 2: Vegetables and fruits
Group 3: Fish, seafood, meat, cheese, eggs, peas, beans, lentils, etc.

- Vegetable oil and margarine should be elected rather than butter, margarine and butter mixed types

- Drinks at meals should be skim milk, extra-fat milk or low-fat milk

- Water is thirst drink between meals, and should also be provided with meals

- Food and drink with lots of added sugar should be avoided

- Most of commemoration and celebration should be conducted without a serving of sweet and fatty foods and sweet drinks
